November 12, 2024, Peoria, IL – Ronnie Ray S. Baskin, a 37-year-old employee at Limestone Community High School, has been charged with criminal sexual assault involving a 17-year-old student. The incident was brought to light when Bartonville Police received reports of explicit text messages between Baskin and the student early Friday morning.
Baskin, who is not a teacher at the school, admitted during police questioning that he knew the girl was underage and acknowledged both sending her the messages and having sexual contact with her. As of today, a detention hearing resulted in the State's Petition to Detain being granted, which means Baskin will remain in custody pending trial.
Authorities have indicated that further charges could be forthcoming as the case advances to a grand jury. The investigation is still active, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Bartonville Police Department at 309-697-2323.
