City of El Paso City Council met Nov. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

A Regular Meeting of the El Paso City Council was called to order by Mayor JW Price on November 18, 2024, at 7:00 PM.

Council Members Present: Brucker, Kilpatrick and Moore. Absent: Mool, Ragusa and Howard. Present on Zoom: None. It was reported the meeting is being recorded.

Present in Person: Director of Public Services Barry Kauther, Treasurer Linda Haas, Clerk David Fever, Operation's Supervisor Casey Jones, Recreation Director Colton Scott, Assistant Caleb Tonozzi and Administrative Assistant Sandee Kessinger. Also present: Karen Wilkey, Josh Gray, Barry Brenneman, Teresa Gauger, Melissa Martin and Jenny Kearney as the local press.

Mr. Melick's Class members were also in attendance: Kaitlyn Cleary, Ellono Mathe, Taya King, Zayden Deery, Eluah Webster, Landon Raymer, Lucy Mann and Emily Mann.

Also present by Zoom Application: Names on zoom software were Lisa and Kim.

Pledge of allegiance to the flag was recited.

Approval of Agenda: Motion by Brucker, seconded by Moore to approve the agenda as presented. Voice vote taken of all ayes.

Consent Agenda.

Council Minutes: The minutes of the November 4, 2024, City Council Meeting were presented in written form.

Register of Bills: The Register of Bills in the amount of $ 580,469.90 as of November 18th was presented.

Treasurer's Report: The Treasurer's report for the month ending October 31, 2024, showing investments, revenue and expenses was presented in written form.

Approval of Consent Agenda: Motion by Kilpatrick, seconded by Brucker to approve items on consent agenda. Voice call vote taken of all ayes.

Public Comments: Barry Benneman was present and spoke of many of the great features of the city that he and his wife have enjoyed since moving here. His one suggestion is possibly the city building a sidewalk along Clay Street from Oak to Fayette Streets.

Old Business: None.

New Business: Annual Insurance Renewal- Motion by Brucker, seconded by Moore to approve to continue our general insurance and workers compensation for 2025 with Assured Partners for $95,757. Roll Call vote taken of all ayes.

Director of Public Service: Report was presented in written form, and he spoke of the large billboard pole at DG Market was removed, ramp at 45 N Elm St was poured and temporary hand rails were installed while permanent ones are being built.

Mayor's Report: The mayor spoke of the Veteran's Day ceremony at our Rededicated Memorial.

City Council Comments: Mary Ellen asked about some weeping willow trees obstruct a street view, Barry will speak again with owner.

Police Chief Report: The Chief was absent.

Operations Supervisor: Casey presented a written report and reported bulk leave pick up will continue and end prior to Thanksgiving Day.

Parks and Recreation Report: Colton introduced Caleb Tonozzi as his recreation assistant who was greeted by the council.

City Attorney: Attorney Stoller was absent.

City Clerk: Clerk reported that because three candidates filed independent petitions at 9:00 AM Tuesday November 12, 2024 a Simultaneous Petition Filing Lottery will be needed at 10:00 AM on Tuesday November 26, 2024 at City Hall. Sales Tax received from August 2024 is up 2.69% from August 2023 and year to date up .66% from same period last year.

Motion by Moore seconded by Brucker to adjourn. Voice vote taken of all ayes. The meeting was adjourned at 7:27 PM.
