FOIA Request to Mason County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Peoria Standard have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Mason County Clerk. The request specifically seeks a list of candidates running for the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections.
The information we are seeking includes each candidate's name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the office they are running for. We believe that access to this public record is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
As a media organization, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
