Construction will resume on the Adams Street and Jefferson Avenue One-Way to Two-Way Conversion Project starting the week of March 3, depending on weather conditions. The project involves several changes to traffic patterns, including work zones, traffic control measures, shifts in traffic patterns, and parking restrictions on both streets.

Parking and lane restrictions will be clearly marked. Parking meters will display "No Parking" signs as necessary. These restrictions are expected to change as the project progresses.

Last year, efforts were concentrated on upgrading intersection corners along Adams Street to improve pedestrian safety. This year's focus will shift to Jefferson Avenue with similar upgrades planned for its intersections. Additionally, work is scheduled at the intersection of Adams Street and William Kumpf Boulevard.

The One-Way to Two-Way (OWTW) Project is an extensive two-and-a-half-year initiative costing $18.9 million aimed at converting both streets from one-way to two-way traffic. Key features of the project include new corner bump-outs designed to shorten pedestrian crossings, added bike lanes, upgraded traffic signals, and milling and overlaying of existing pavement surfaces. The final road configuration will feature one lane in each direction with a bidirectional turn lane.

Upon completion, two-way traffic on Adams Street will extend from Pecan Street to Hamilton Boulevard while Jefferson Avenue's conversion will stretch from Persimmon Street to Fayette Street. The project is slated for completion by summer 2026.
