Darin LaHood, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for Illinois’ 16th district, shared multiple engagements and initiatives through social media in late April 2025. LaHood, a Peoria native born in 1968, replaced Aaron Schock in Congress in 2015. He is known for his efforts to support local industries and education, as well as his legislative endeavors concerning community programs.
On April 21, 2025, LaHood reported a visit to Leatherhead Tools in Rockford, where he observed their production aimed at aiding first responders across the country. He acknowledged the efforts of Dan O'Boyle, who guided him during the visit and discussed the company's significant contributions. The following day, LaHood introduced a resolution to recognize the importance of home visiting programs. He proposed designating a week as National Home Visiting Week to acknowledge the programs' contributions to new parents and families, as well as to honor the work of committed home visitors.
