Rainfall in the City of Peoria has resulted in a combined sewer overflow into the Illinois River. This event occurred within the past 24 hours from one or more locations indicated on a city-provided map.

Residents are advised to avoid full-body contact with the Illinois River, particularly in areas downstream from Detweiller Marina. City officials warn that individuals may become sick if they swallow water while participating in activities such as swimming, jet skiing, or water skiing in the affected areas.

The City of Peoria is actively working on projects to reduce combined sewer overflows into the Illinois River during periods of wet weather. These efforts are in accordance with the Clean Water Act and the CSO Consent Decree.
