On June 5, 2025, Peoria authorities charged Mario E. Davis, a local tattoo artist aged 34, with grooming after allegedly sending sexually explicit messages to a 16-year-old through Snapchat. During the detention hearing, the State's Petition to Detain was granted, ensuring that Davis remains in custody until his trial.
The case began on February 12, 2025, when police received a report from the minor about receiving explicit text messages from Davis. The minor claimed that after accepting a friend request from Davis on Snapchat, he began sending sexually explicit content despite being aware of the minor's age.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant on Davis's cellphone and Snapchat account. Their investigation confirmed that the account used for communication belonged to Davis. Furthermore, GPS data from Snapchat suggested that the conversation took place near his residence and was found in his phone’s Snapchat data. Following these findings, Davis was arrested on June 3.
