June 5, 2025, Peoria, IL – Tnashia S. Wash, aged 20, has entered a guilty plea for the murder of her boyfriend, Roderick Richardson. The incident took place in October 2023 when Richardson was shot multiple times and later pronounced dead at his residence in the West Bluff area.

On October 16, police responded to reports of a shooting on the 1200 block of N. Ellis. Upon their arrival, officers encountered Wash outside the home who confessed to having shot Richardson. Inside the house, Richardson was found lying face down in a pool of blood and was declared dead at the scene.

Wash informed authorities that she had been living with Richardson along with her child. On that day, an argument between them escalated into a physical altercation. She claimed that during the dispute, Richardson threatened her with a gun by pointing it at both himself and her. Wash managed to wrestle control of the firearm from him as they continued arguing. According to Wash's account, when Richardson charged at her amidst their confrontation, she fired shots that struck him twice in the front and four times in the back. Investigations revealed none of these shots were fired at close range.

As part of a plea agreement for Wash's admission of guilt, prosecutors have agreed to cap her potential prison sentence at 35 years. Her sentencing is scheduled for July 31.
