Darin LaHood, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district since 2015, has recently shared updates on legislative efforts and community engagement through a series of posts on his social media account.

On July 21, 2025, LaHood highlighted the introduction of new legislation, stating: "The One Big Beautiful Bill jumpstarts our economy by slashing red tape, lowering taxes, and supporting Main Street. This bill creates high-paying jobs to build a more prosperous future for Illinois families. This bill is a win for #IL16 and communities across the country."

Continuing his outreach, LaHood posted on July 22 about meeting with young agricultural leaders in Washington D.C.: "I enjoyed meeting with young leaders of the Illinois FFA in D.C. to discuss policies that will support them and the future of agriculture in Illinois. I am committed to ensuring they have the resources they need to fuel innovation, be competitive in global markets, and continue"

LaHood has served as representative for Illinois’s 16th District since replacing Aaron Schock in 2015. Born in Peoria in 1968 and currently residing there at age 54, he holds degrees from Loras College (BA) and John Marshall Law School (JD), Chicago.
