Bradley University move-in prompts road closures and parking bans this week

Multiple road closures and parking restrictions will be in place around Bradley University this week as students move into campus housing. The restrictions begin Thursday, August 21, and are expected to impact traffic flow through Saturday.

Drivers should expect delays on N. University Street between W. Columbia Terrace and W. Main Street, as well as at the intersection of N. University Street and W. Main Street. Officials advise motorists to use caution in the area and consider alternate routes.

Parking will not be allowed on W. Bradley Avenue from N. University Street to N. Institute Place starting at 2 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

On Friday, August 22, additional parking bans will take effect:

- No parking on N. University Street from W. Main Street to W. Bradley Avenue beginning at 8 a.m.

- No parking on the south side of W. Main Street from N. University Street to N. Elmwood Avenue starting at 8 a.m.

- No parking on N. Elmwood Avenue from W. Main Street to W. Bradley Avenue beginning at 5 p.m.

- No parking at Founder’s Circle, located at 1400 W. St. James Street, starting at 5 p.m., with restrictions lasting until Monday morning.

Road closures start Friday evening:

- Southbound N. Elmwood Avenue from W. Main Street to W. St. James Street will close at 5 p.m.

- Northbound N. Elmwood Avenue from W. Bradley Avenue will also close at that time.

On Saturday, August 23, further closures are scheduled between 6 a.m and 6 p.m., including eastbound W. Bradley Avenue at N. Institute Place and southbound W St James Street at N University Street.

City officials remind drivers that these measures are necessary for student move-in activities and urge everyone traveling near the university to plan accordingly.
