Road closures and parking restrictions will begin around Dozer Park at 730 S.W. Adams Street starting Monday, September 22. The measures are expected to last six days and are related to field renovations by the Peoria Chiefs. Additional work that may require further street closures is planned for October.
During this period, drivers and pedestrians in the area should expect an increased presence of semi-trucks. Authorities urge caution due to these changes.
Parking will be prohibited along the northbound lane in the 600-700 blocks of S.W. Jefferson Avenue between Oak Street and Walnut Street, as well as along the northbound lane in the 600 block of S.W. Adams Street between State Street and Walnut Street. To reach the Peoria Police Department at 600 S.W. Adams Street, drivers are advised to use Walnut Street.
On-street parking restrictions will be clearly marked, while non-restricted parking remains available in the 800-900 blocks of S.W. Adams Street and the 200-300 blocks of Oak Street.
Starting Tuesday, September 23, additional road closures will be implemented from Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting:
"S.W. Adams Street will be closed to both northbound and southbound traffic between State Street and Walnut Street. Northbound S.W. Adams Street traffic must turn right onto eastbound State Street."
"The southbound lane of S.W. Adams Street between Walnut Street and Oak Street will be closed."
"The westbound lane of State Street will be closed midblock, past the alley. Westbound State Street traffic will be for business and residential access only."
Truck detour routes have been established for northbound S.W. Adams truck or semi traffic via S. MacArthur Highway, with trucks directed east on S. MacArthur Highway, north on S.W. Washington Street through the roundabout, then west on Harrison Street before returning north on S.W. Adams.
Further updates regarding parking and lane restrictions are expected as work continues.
