Paving work originally scheduled for Monday, October 13, on several downtown Peoria streets has been postponed to Tuesday, October 14, due to weather conditions. The affected streets include Adams Street, Hamilton Boulevard, Harrison Street, Liberty Street, and Main Street.

The City of Peoria announced that the paving will begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and is dependent on weather conditions. Drivers should expect delays of up to 30 minutes while the work is underway. Delays are also anticipated when entering or exiting the Jefferson and Niagara parking decks as well as the County of Peoria Parking Deck.

The city strongly advises drivers to use alternative routes during this period.

Periodic lane closures will take place throughout the day on Hamilton Boulevard, Harrison Street, Liberty Street, and Main Street between Jefferson Avenue and Adams Street. These closures may change as work progresses. The two far left lanes of Adams Street from N. William Kumpf Boulevard to the Interstate 74 overpass will remain closed to all traffic.

Parking restrictions are also in effect. Both sides of Harrison Street, Liberty Street, and Hamilton Boulevard will have their parking lanes closed. On Adams Street from N. William Kumpf Boulevard to the Interstate 74 overpass, the northside parking lane remains closed as well.

No on-street parking is allowed in these areas while meters are bagged for restrictions. Vehicles parked in restricted zones risk being towed.

Off-street parking options are available at both the Jefferson and Twin Towers parking decks. Lane closures and parking restrictions may continue to change daily until resurfacing work concludes.

Traffic patterns will revert once resurfacing is complete; however, one-way traffic on Adams Street will stay in effect until next year.

Daily updates about milling and paving locations are expected through Friday, October 17. Drivers are urged to be cautious around workers in these areas; flaggers may be present at times for guidance.
