Darin LaHood highlights local agriculture honors and infrastructure visits

Darin LaHood, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district, highlighted local achievements and community engagement in a series of posts on his official X account this week.

On October 16, LaHood congratulated a local family business for its recent recognition, stating, "Congratulations to Martin Family Farms of Mount Pulaski for being named Farmer of the Year for Positive Agriculture and Sustainability in North America at the PepsiCo Inaugural Global Farmers Awards! This is an incredible accomplishment and deserved recognition for the Martin" (posted October 16, 2025).

Later that day, he shared details about his visit to a road project in Peoria. According to LaHood’s post from October 16, "This morning, I joined Mike Cullinan, Eric Schmitt, and Mike Goeken of UCM to check on the Dowtown Peoria road project and thank the hardworking crew for helping improve our community! It was great to tour the Leland Asphalt Plant after to see how they produce the asphalt that".

The following day, LaHood discussed his meeting with a regional industry leader. On October 17 he wrote: ".@vermeermidwest plays a key role in supporting our ag, utility, and construction industries in #IL16 and across the Midwest. I enjoyed visiting with Steve Kool and his team at their headquarters in Goodfield to talk about policies that promote growth, strengthen our supply".

LaHood has served as the representative for Illinois’ 16th district since 2015 after succeeding Aaron Schock. He won re-election in 2022 by defeating Elizabeth Haderlein with approximately two-thirds of the vote.
