Carlin Follis has been named the first honoree in the Citizen Spotlight feature, recognized for her long-standing contributions to the Galva community. Follis has volunteered in a range of roles over several decades, including as a founding member of Crossroads Cultural Connections and the Levitt AMP Galva Music Series. She has also worked as a pharmacy technician at Galva Pharmacy and is active with the Galva Historical Society.

In addition to these efforts, Follis serves as Director of the Galva Senior Citizens Center and is an organizer for the Galva Freedom Fest. According to her nominator, “Simply put, Carlin Follis is one of those rare individuals whose goodness radiates through every part of her life. Her decades of volunteerism, kindness, and leadership have made an immeasurable difference in Galva and to all who know her. She embodies the very best of what community means, and she is richly deserving of this and every honor for those who serve their communities.”

Illinois State Representative Travis Weaver (R-Pekin), who was elected to represent the 93rd House District in 2023 after succeeding Norine Hammond, announced this recognition. He expressed his gratitude by stating, “Thank you, Carlin, for your incredible compassion and dedicated service to the Galva community! I am honored to recognize and spotlight your efforts.”

Submissions remain open for future Citizen Spotlight honors. Community members are encouraged to nominate individuals who have made special contributions.
