Hoby

Four students from Dunlap High School attended the HOBY Illinois South Leadership Seminar from June 9 to 12.

HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership), founded by Hugh O’Brian in 1958, seeks to inspire and develop the global community of youth and volunteers.

Dunlap sends sophomores to the conference every summer. Every year, the school notes, these students come back having had what they describe as a “life-changing experience.”

Ayah Aldadah, Huda Aldadah, Bruna Tavares, Julia Tavares and Franny Verville attended the four-day seminar this year.

They were among 160 student ambassadors from all around the state who came to grow their leadership and interpersonal skills. Activities at the event included team-building exercises, listening to inspiring keynote speakers and creating service projects.
