Two Peoria nursing homes hit with health violations

Two nursing homes in Peoria County have been cited by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) for violations of the Nursing Home Care Act in the second quarter of 2017.

The report, released on Monday, lists the nursing homes in the state with AA or A violations, which might have caused the death of a resident or could cause death or serious injury to a resident, respectively.

Sharon Health Care Elms, a 98-bed skilled care facility at 3611 N. Rochelle, Peoria, was cited with an “A” violation and fined $25,000 for failing to prevent falls resulting in injury to a resident. The facility requested a hearing and paid $9,821.

Rosewood Care Center of Peoria, at 1500 W. Northmoor Road, Peoria, received an “A” violation and a $25,000 fine for failing to identify and prevent a resident's pressure sore from worsening, as well as not notifying a physician for treatment, and not maintaining clean hand hygiene. The 120-bed skilled care facility has requested a hearing.
