Rep. Tim Butler (R-Springfield) wore a baseball cap when welcoming the Williamsville High School Bullets to the House Floor.
Pointing to the group in the east chamber of the House Floor on April 17, Butler proudly announced the students from his district were the Class 1 A State Scholastic Bowl champions.
“Over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend, they went to Peoria and came out victorious as the state champions, beating Byron in the championship match,” Butler said.

Taking first place by 500-120, Butler said the win was a great redemption.
“Last year they finished in second place, so they won a state championship this year,” Butler said.
The state representative said it was a great honor to represent the students from northern Sangamon County.
After naming off each of the student’s names, Butler also acknowledged the coaches and the team’s hard work.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming the Class 1 A Scholastic Bowl Champions, the Williamsville Bullets,” Butler said.
