Report: Morton spent $10,554 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Morton Community Unit School District 709 is up 15 percent from five years ago, according to a Peoria Standard analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Tazewell County school district spent $9,215 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,554 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 2857 to 3060.

Morton's spending in 2016-17 was 19 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
