Hopedale Fire Protection District responded to 10 calls in 2017 - 37.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Hopedale included five fires - three structure fires and two vehicle fires.

In all, the department saw $5,000 in fire loss - or about $1,000 per fire.

The department also received five false calls.

The Hopedale Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $287,368 in 2017.
