Mackinaw Fire Protection District responded to 23 calls in 2017 - 35.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Mackinaw included 11 fires - three structure fires, four vehicle fires and four other fires.

The department also received 12 false calls, including one malicious call and 11 other false calls.
