City of Chillicothe Public Safety Committee met June 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

The Public Safety Committee met on June 5, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

Present: Chairman Hughes, Alderman Sharp, Alderman Jenkins, Mayor White, Fire Chief Benisch, Police Chief Mettille, Office Manager Passage, City Clerk Hurd,

Absent: Alderman Braun

Chairman Hughes called the meeting to order

Budget Review:

Office Manager Passage led a review of the budget. She reported that all departments were in-line with expenses.

Sturgeon Trailer Park Discussion:

Office Manager Passage told the committee she was contacted by Attorney Christopher Oswald on behalf of the owner of the Sturgeon Trailer Park. She stated Attorney Oswald had questioned why the trailer park was not zoned R4 and asked what the process would be too rezone the property. She explained the process for rezoning to Attorney Oswald. She informed the committee that Attorney Oswald was in the audience to answer any questions. Discussion was held on the disadvantages of the current zoning and the advantages to rezoning. Chief Mettille informed the committee that the condition of the trailer park has improved. The consensus of the committee was in favor of the rezoning. Attorney Oswald told the committee that he would inform his client what the process would be to rezone.

Ambulance Service Provider License:

Mayor White gave an update. He informed the committee that the agreement is still being looked at by the attorney’s. He told the committee he would hopes to have the agreement back for the June 11th council meeting.

Drop Off Site – Burning Debris:

Chairman Hughes informed the committee that he had a complaint from a citizen about burning taking place while citizens where dumping at the drop off site. He asked the citizen to attend the committee meeting however they did not.

Food Vendors:

Chairman Hughes led discussion on Food Vendors on private property. A lengthy discussion was held on if the vendors could be regulated. It was the consensus of the committee to have the City Clerk questions other communities on how they are regulated, if at all.

Police Update:

Chief Mettille presented the following reports:

Ordinance Zone Statistics, Impound Vehicles, Summercamp 2018 results and Summercamp work hours. Reports are attached to minutes.

Fire Update:

Chief Benisch presented Fire Department reports for May. Report is attached to minutes.

Property Maintenance:

No report

Emergency Prepredness Plan:

No Action

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:14 p.m.
