Vit Community Unit School District 2 students suspended 21 times in a single school year

Vit Community Unit School District 2 reported 21 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 21 students during the year. That equates to 5.8 percent of the 362 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes six incidents. There were three incidents of tobacco. For seven incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 11 out-of-school suspensions, all were given to boys.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 10 incidents. There were one incidents of violence without physical injury. For 10 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
