Limestone Community High School District 310 students suspended, expelled 406 times in a single school year

Limestone Community High School District 310 reported four expulsions and 402 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 406 students during the year. That equates to 38.1 percent of the 1,067 students enrolled.

Students were expelled for four incidents with drugs.

Of the 289 in-school suspensions, 165 were given to boys and 124 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 279 incidents. There were nine incidents of tobacco. For 151 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 113 out-of-school suspensions, 56 were given to boys and 57 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 78 incidents. There were 25 incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For 36 incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
