Washington School District 52 students suspended 32 times in a single school year

Washington School District 52 reported 32 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 32 students during the year. That equates to 3.4 percent of the 951 students enrolled.

Of the 22 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 22 incidents. For 21 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 10 out-of-school suspensions, all were given to boys, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 10 incidents. For four incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
