Stark County Community Unit School District 100 students suspended 21 times in a single school year

Stark County Community Unit School District 100 reported 21 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 21 students during the year. That equates to 2.8 percent of the 757 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for tobacco. The category includes nine incidents. There were three incidents of unspecified reasons. For 12 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for drugs. The category includes eight incidents. There were one incidents of a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm. For six incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.
