Retired Peoria SD 150 employee Mary Lynall saved $20,284 toward her pension over 11 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 35 years of retirement, Lynall would collect as much as $895,000, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Peoria Standard.
Lynall, 60, who currently lives in Peoria, earned $36,856 in her final year at Peoria SD 150.
The projection assumes Lynall will receive 37.6 percent of that total - $13,875 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Lynall will have already received $42,888 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 17.4 percent of Peoria SD 150 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams. ISBE reported that 36.3 percent of district's graduates were deemed "college ready" last year.
