Canton City issued the following announcement on Jan. 14.
All roofing work performed in the city of Canton must be licensed by both the City of Canton and the state of Illinois. This applies to any roofing contractor or any person(s) that is doing roofing work for payment, regardless of if the person is part of a roofing business or not. This means if you are having your roof repaired by a friend or relative, and you are paying them for the work, that person must be licensed.
