CITY OF DELAVAN: Development Projects Need Steering Committee Volunteers

Volunteers

City of Delavan issued the following announcement on March 29.

There are two development projects that are in need of steering committee volunteers. Grow Delavan will be working with the City of Delavan to facilitate these projects, but additional members are needed to get these projects off the ground. Both of these projects will offer benefits to the residents of Delavan.

1. Alternative Transportation Plan for Delavan: The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission

(TCRPC) has agreed to work with Delavan on exploring a draft plan for development of biking,

pedestrians, and transit to connect Delavan with the surrounding communities and a large

bike/pedestrian/transit network. There has already been an expressed need for bike routes

leading to and from Delavan. The expected timeline for the committee is 11 months with a

conclusion in June 2020. The steering committee would help with developing plans and routes

that would be adopted by the City of Delavan and the TCRPC.

2. Grocery Store Co-Op Plans: Following the positive results of the community meeting in January

regarding a future small-scale grocery store, the need for a steering committee to formulate

plans and help this project move forward was determined to be the next step.

If either of these projects sound like something with which you would like to be involved, please contact

Joe Flint (joe@growdelavan.org) or Matt Fick (mfick@delavanil.org).
