Canton City issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.
Throughout the world, including Fulton County, churches have been focal points of communities for centuries. With that in mind, a new exhibit called “Historic Churches” is coming to the Canton Area Heritage Center. The exhibit will feature history, pictures, documents, momentos, and more from six area churches…Canton Church of the Brethren, First Presbyterian Church of Canton, First Presbyterian Church of Lewistown, Salvation Army of Canton, Trinity Lutheran Church of Canton, and Wesley United Methodist Church of Canton.
The exhibit opens Friday November 22nd. The display featuring the first six churches will continue through May of 2020. Other area churches will be featured after that through December of 2020.
In another matter, the Canton Area Heritage Center is nearing a milestone. Since it opened September seventh 2018, and through last Sunday, November tenth, the Center has welcomed 975 visitors. The one-thousandth visitor is expected soon. That visitor will receive a special medallion from the Canton Sesquicentennial in 1975.
The Canton Area Heritage Center is at 111 South Main Street…across the street from the Graham Medical Group Clinic. It’s open Fridays from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. There is no admission charge but donations are welcome.
