City of Canton Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Jan. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A regular meeting of the Canton Fire and Police Commission was called to order at 1:33 p.m. by Commissioner Mayall.

Present: Commissioner Chad Mayall

Commissioner Greg Gossett (via cell phone on speaker)

Absent: Commissioner Samantha Norton

Public Participation- none

Motion was made by Commissioner Gossett seconded by Commissioner Mayall to accept the

Minutes of the December 17, 2019 regular meeting. All Ayes, motion carried.

Motions were made by Commissioner Mayall seconded by Commissioner Gossett to accept the December budget. All Ayes, motion carried.

Training certificates: A 12-month review of Firefighter Chenoweth was presented for review.

Old Business – none

Probationary Employees: No report.

Bills: No bills.

Testing Cycles: Regarding the PD lateral candidate, the commission still has not interviewed the candidate, so no official list has been posted to hire from. Carol will check to see if there is a retirement has been officially applied for that will allow for a new hire.

Regarding the PD Initial retesting, Carol will begin the advertising process asap.

Regarding the Fire Lt. Promotional – Carol will email the commissioners to set up dates to interview the candidates.

New Business :

Having no other business, a Motion was made by Commissioner Mayall seconded by Commissioner Gossett to adjourn the meeting. All Ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
