Q4 2019 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Mason County?

There were three offenders released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2019 that live in Mason County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Peoria Standard.

The data shows that all of the released offenders in Mason County were men. The median age of the parolees was 38. The youngest parolee was a 24-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2018, and the oldest was a 51-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2015.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Benjamin F. Nelson. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2015 when he was 47 years old. He is now 51.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the fourth quarter of 2019 in each Mason County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
