City of East Peoria issued the following announcement on Apr. 29.
Construction on Main Street (Illinois 116/U.S. 24/150) between Interstate 74 and Highview Road begins Monday, May 3. The project involves resurfacing and pedestrian improvements and will require lane closures. At least one lane in each direction will be open at all times during the work, which is expected to be complete in July.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
