Veteran state Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Morris) is leading the charge in pushing for safe roadways this farming season.
“It’s harvest season and that means long hours in the fields,” Tracy posted on Facebook. “Drivers please slow down and watch for farmers and their equipment.
In a video posted to Tracy’s page, farmers also called on motorists to be diligent in doing whatever it takes to keep things as safe as they can for everyone.
“If you see farm equipment out, take it slow,” one farmer said in the video. “Always look at what’s going on around you and please don’t text and drive. Keep eyes open.”
Another added, “Please give us a few moments to realize you’re behind us so we can make adjustments accordingly. Just remember that the person in the bigger machine, even though there’s a lot of great technology, we still have to look around.”
First elected in the 47th District in 2017, Tracy sits on the House’s Agriculture Committee and Environment and Conservation Committee, where she is also minority spokesperson.
Tracy also serves as Senate Republican Whip, a role that consists of her coordinating with the rest of the GOP leadership team on guiding legislation and setting policy.
“Senator Tracy is widely respected not just in our caucus, but the General Assembly as a whole,” Senate Republican Leader Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) told the McDonough County Voice. “She knows exactly who she is and what she is here to do. That confidence and understanding of what Illinois needs to become more successful is invaluable in our leadership team.”
