City of Mason City Council met July 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Call to order by Mayor Bruce Lowe at approximately 7:00 P.M.

Council members physically present were Scott Francis, Gerald Mahin, Jim Miller, Danny Mason, Julie Mize, Kevin Snyder. Superintendent Wayne Dixon, Chief Adam Anderson, Jim Cummings, Paige Price, Gavin Malinska, Treasurer Mike Griffin, and Clerk Michele Whitehead also attended the meeting.

The minutes of the July 12th regular Council meeting were approved.

R21-70.5 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Miller to approve the regular session minutes of the July 12th, 2021 meeting

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

Paige Price addressed the Council regarding a Community Art Program sponsored by the Greater Peoria Arts Guild that she would like to bring into the community. She asked for suggestions regarding where she could have the class. Class would meet two times a month and would be free to anyone within the township. The Council agreed to assist in helping to find a location for the art class.

The annual budget and appropriation was approved.

R21-72 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Francis to approve the Annual Appropriation.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

The Council approved a resolution of support in accordance with the qualifications for the CDBG grant from DCEO

R21-73 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Francis to approve the Annual Appropriation.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-74 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Snyder to approve change order #7 in the amount of $13,803.29 for the CSO project,

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-75 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderwoman Mize to approve change order #1 for Chlorine improvements in the amount of $3500.00

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-76 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Snyder to approve pay request #2 for the Chlorine Improvements project, payment to Prairie State Plumbing, in the amount of $80,347.50.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

Superintendent Dixon informed that Well #7 is having problems with the check valves. The valves were just replaced in April. Superintendent Dixon is in discussion with the company who provided and installed the valves as to compensation since the valves didn’t work as long as they should have.

Alderman Mize informed the Council that she spoke with Lennie Moore at Ameren regarding the request for two new street lights on North Main.

The meeting adjourned into Executive Session at 7:15 P.M. to discuss 5 ILCS ( C ) (1) (6) property.

The meeting resumed back into regular session at 7:30 P.M.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:31 P.M.
