Peoria County Land Use Committee met Sept. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

MEMBERS PRESENT: James Dillon - Chairperson; Eden Blair – Vice Chairperson, William Watkins, Sharon Williams, Jennifer Groves Allison, Brian Elsasser (via teleconference)

MEMBERS ABSENT:

OTHERS PRESENT: Jennie Cordis Boswell – State’s Attorney's Office; Scott Sorrel – County Administration, Kathi Urban, Andrew Braun, Jack Weindel, Sarah Cox – Planning & Zoning

Call to Order:

Mr. Dillon called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m.

A motion to allow Member Elsasser to participate via telephone was made by Ms. Williams and seconded by Mr. Watkins. A vote was taken, and the motion carried (5-0)

Approval of Minutes:

A motion to approve the Land Use Committee minutes from July 26 , 2 021 was made by Mr. Watkins and seconded by Dr. Blair. A vote was taken, and the motion carried. (6-0).

Budget:

A motion to discuss the budget was made by Dr. Blair and seconded by Ms. Allison.

Scott Sorrel gave a PowerPoint presentation of the County-wide budget as well as the three budgets under the Land Use Committee’s purview: Planning and Zoning, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Planning and Zoning Grant Fund.

Mr. Dillon asked if there were any questions or comments, and there were none. A vote was taken, and the motion carried. (6-0)

Reports/Other Minutes/Updates:

Tri-County Regional Planning Commission Minutes: No questions or comments. Unsafe Structures: No questions or comments.

Development Summary: No questions or comments.

Mr. Dillon moved to receive and file the reports.

Miscellaneous:

Kathi Urban introduced Jack Weindel. Jack joined Planning and Zoning in July as a Planner I. He recently graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in Community and Regional Planning and a GIS Certificate. He also completed an internship with Southwest Missouri Council of Governments.

Ms. Williams wanted to give a shout-out to Ms. Urban. Over the past year they have been working with Bill Connor, the attorney for Limestone Township, and Derek Roemer, the new Limestone Township Supervisor, to deal with some of the problem properties in the township. The meetings have been very productive, and she feels like they are getting a lot done. Ms. Williams just wanted to thank Kathi and Derek for the work they are getting done for her neighborhood.

Mr. Dillon adjourned the meeting at 4:11 p.m.
