In a June 25 Facebook post, Rep. Ryan Spain endorsed Brett Nicklaus for the 37th District.
"We need honest and ethical leaders like Brett Nicklaus in our state government. Brett is committed to restoring integrity in Springfield and ending the culture of corruption that has badly damaged Illinois. He will listen to his constituents and represent our Senate district with conservative values. Brett Nicklaus is the best choice in this election and has my full support as the Republican candidate for Illinois State Senate. Nicklaus for Illinois," said Rep. Spain.
Brett Nicklaus describes himself as "a life-long Republican, proud to be in the party of President Trump and President Reagan. My faith in God keeps me grounded as to what is important. Matthew 7:12, a verse many recognize as the Golden Rule, has governed the way I live among my community."
Nicklaus is running against Win Stoller to represent the people of the district in the state Senate. According to the Journal Star, "Nicklaus has not held political office but has served as a precinct chairman in Lee County and has been active in Republican politics, pushing for changes in the state's response to COVID-19 and to how it regulates weapons."
Nicklaus announced his run for Senate in February. "Complicated budgets can be managed to achieve fiscal stability. I am a fiscal conservative, and I believe that as a hard-working business owner I know what it takes for our state to be fiscally responsible," he wrote in a press release back in February, as reported by Shaw Local.
