Game Recap: Bradley at Murray State

Game Recap
Murray State and Bradley would square off for the just 14th time in series history on Wednesday night and the resumption of the series resulted in another close road contest for Bradley. BU much like they have all season got off to a hot start shooting 71% from the field in the game's opening eight minutes to cling onto a an 17-12 lead. In the early going Zek Montgomery was a force, as he tied the lead for all scorers at eight points with DJ Burns of Murray State. The name of the game in the first half were scoring runs, or lack there of. Bradley controlled the opening 15 minutes of the first half but an 11-0 run and four minute scoring drought from BU saw Murray State claw back and take the lead with just over five minutes remaining in the half. As both teams headed into the locker room the score stood at 34-27 in favor of the Racers. As the second half got under way Bradley would respond quickly. Malevy Leons, Ja'Shon Henry, and Darius Hannah stepped up big in the second half for Bradley as they fueled a BU come back that saw the lead cut down to just a single point with 9:12 to play. Murray State would answer with a seven point run of their own, but again down the final few minutes of play the Braves cut the lead down to five after a made free throw of their own hereand a three-point play by Leons on the second missed free throw. Bradley's defense kept them in the game but two free throws from JaCobi Wood in the final 30 seconds saw the Racers escape with the home win 67-58. Murray State improved to 4-1 in MVC play and Bradley dropped to 3-2. Coming up next for Bradley is a stretch of games that on paper should give them a positive outlook. They will play Valparaiso and Evansville in Carver Arena where they are tied for nations 14th longest home winning streak at 15 games. A win on Saturday would give BU 16 straight home wins and tie the 9th longest home win streak in program history which was set from 01/30/65 through 01/06/66.

Milestone Watch
- Ja'Shon Henry passed Eric Roberson and Chad Kleine on the all-time scoring list with 876 career points and now ranks 66th in Bradley history. Henry needs 124 points to claim his 1,000th for his career (7.7 PPG).
