Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

CALL TO ORDER: The April 3, 2023, meeting of the Minonk City Council Public Works Committee was held at City Hall and called to order by Chairman Trent Ruestman at 5:15 P.M.

ROLL CALL: Those in attendance: Alderwoman Julie McNamara, Alderman T. Ruestman & Alderman T. Nix.

Also in Attendance, City Administrator Bill Moline, Public Works Employee Kaleb Garber & Alderman R. Ruestman.

REGULAR AGENDA: City Administrator Bill Moline provided current 2022-23 budget information and proposed 23-24 budget requests. Committee went through the following items for consideration in the 2023/24 FY Budget.

∙ Sewer line lining – waiting on updated costs to see if we can do it this FY.

∙ Equipment schedule reviewed for possible purchase of Vac. Truck, mower and F450 truck to replace two current trucks being used for a dump, salt spreading, plowing and brush. Waiting on updated pricing.

∙ Discussed suggested water & sewer rate increases recommended by the CPI-W report. 8.9% which would increase water .59 cents per/100 cubic ft. and sewer .57 cents per/100 cubic ft. of usage.

∙ Jake working with Farnsworth on projected MFT project for this year.

∙ Discussed options to replace RO controls now or start budgeting for new RO system and putting funds away for future replacement of the whole system, price tag of roughly $800,000.

∙ Reviewed sidewalk work that needs to be done this year and 5-year plan to replace Business District sidewalks. Waiting on pricing from local contractor to have an idea for planning purposes.

∙ Fire Hydrant replacement – have parts for one this year and would like to budget for one or two more this year, or at least put money aside for it and if we don’t need to spend it, we won’t.

∙ Water tower needs – Kaleb reaching out to discuss with local company who was supposed to be doing some work.

∙ Damaged curb replacement – add to part of 5-year plan

∙ Need to discuss with Farnsworth the drainage line leaving town to see if there are issues with the size and increasing the size makes sense or focus on issues in town first?

∙ Need to review more if adding a storm line through residential property by bank and alley behind the Business District needs to be done?

∙ Committee suggested reviewing the previously completed Storm/Sewer line study by Elm Court to see what was suggested to be done and costs?

Moline will update the budget spread sheets once he receives updated pricing on a few items and send back out to all members of Council for future discussions.
