Last week, Representative Weaver had the opportunity to step into the shoes of a high school principal. Kewanee High School graciously allowed him to serve as Principal for a Day, giving him the chance to interact with students, teachers, and staff.

During his visit, Rep. Weaver made it a priority to connect with the school community and understand their needs. He had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with students, teachers, and staff members, all aimed at finding ways to provide better support.

"I spoke with students, teachers, and staff about how I can best support them," Rep. Weaver shared. It was clear that he was genuinely interested in learning about the challenges and aspirations of those within the school.

As part of his role as Principal for a Day, Rep. Weaver also had the chance to observe a few classes. This experience allowed him to gain firsthand insight into the daily routines and activities that take place within the school. By immersing himself in the classroom environment, Rep. Weaver was able to better understand the educational needs of the students.

Additionally, a lunch and learn session was held with Student Council representatives. This provided an opportunity for open dialogue and allowed the students to express their thoughts and concerns directly to Rep. Weaver. It was a valuable exchange of ideas and perspectives.

Expressing his gratitude for the experience, Rep. Weaver said, "Thank you so much for having me!" His time as Principal for a Day was undoubtedly a valuable and eye-opening experience, allowing him to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs within the education system.

The visit to Kewanee High School not only gave Rep. Weaver the chance to see firsthand the incredible work being done by the students, teachers, and staff, but it also allowed him to reaffirm his commitment to supporting education in his community.

Being able to step into the shoes of a principal provided Rep. Weaver with a unique perspective. It allowed him to connect with the school community, listen to their concerns, and witness the dedication and passion of those involved in shaping the futures of the students.
