Last week, Rep. Weaver joined forces with the Pekin Police Department and the Kewanee Police Department to host prescription drug take back events. These events aimed to provide the community with a safe and convenient way to dispose of their unused or expired medications.

The collaboration between the local law enforcement agencies and Rep. Weaver proved to be a success, as residents actively participated in the initiative. The events offered an opportunity for individuals to contribute to the fight against drug abuse and keep harmful substances off the streets.

Expressing gratitude, Rep. Weaver stated, "Thank you to the Pekin Police Department and Kewanee Police Department for hosting prescription drug take back events with me last week! It was a great experience to partner with local law enforcement agencies to help residents safely dispose of unused or expired medications and keep those drugs off our streets."

The prescription drug take back events not only served as a platform for safe drug disposal but also facilitated community engagement. Attendees had the chance to interact with law enforcement officers and learn about the importance of proper medication disposal.

The events also provided an opportunity for individuals to enjoy some refreshments. Rep. Weaver expressed her appreciation to everyone who attended the events, saying, "Thank you to everyone who came by to say hello and enjoyed donuts and sandwiches!"

By collaborating with local law enforcement agencies, Rep. Weaver's efforts in organizing these prescription drug take back events have contributed to raising awareness about the proper disposal of medications. The success of these events demonstrates the importance of community partnerships in addressing the issue of drug abuse.

The initiative taken by Rep. Weaver, the Pekin Police Department, and the Kewanee Police Department is commendable as it not only promotes public safety but also encourages responsible medication management. The community can now rest assured that their unused or expired medications will be disposed of safely, preventing any potential misuse or harm.

With the success of these recent events, it is hoped that more communities will follow suit and establish similar initiatives to combat the growing issue of drug abuse. By working together, both lawmakers and law enforcement agencies can make a significant impact in creating safer and healthier communities.
