The Waukegan Fire Department in Illinois is providing a vital service to the community by offering the American Heart Association Friends & Family CPR course for individuals aged 15 and above. The course, while informative and beneficial, does not come with a CPR certification card upon completion.

Participants in this course will learn essential lifesaving skills, including adult, child, and infant Hands-Only CPR, as well as adult, child, and infant AED use. Additionally, attendees will be instructed on how to handle mild and severe airway blockages for individuals of all ages. The teaching methodology involves a group setting with a practice-while-watching technique to ensure students receive hands-on CPR practice.

The course is set to take place on four Saturdays throughout 2024 at 10 am on the following dates: May 18th, August 24th, and November 16th. Those interested in attending are required to register in advance. For registration or further information regarding the Friends & Family CPR course, individuals can reach out to Lt. Adam Slade via email at cpr@waukeganil.gov.
