A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the City of Lacon, Illinois, by us at Peoria Standard on October 30, 2024. The request pertains to both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued in the city.
The information sought includes a comprehensive list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present date. The specific details requested for each permit include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the construction is taking place, and the contractor's name.
In addition to this, we have also requested a list of all currently active residential and commercial building permits along with their status. The same fields as mentioned above are requested for these active permits.
As a media organization dedicated to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to public records is essential for our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have asked for a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
We await further communication from the City of Lacon regarding this request.
