The City of Peoria reports that main arterial streets are in good condition and drivable after a snowstorm left accumulations below two inches. However, drivers are advised to exercise caution during their morning commute as some roads, particularly neighborhood streets, may still be partially covered with snow and slick spots could be present. Commuters should allow for more stopping distance than usual and allocate extra time for travel.
Peoria's Snowfighters are maintaining 12-hour operations around the clock until further notice. Crews will continue treating arterial streets and hazardous areas throughout the day, with expectations that road conditions will improve as the morning progresses.
The storm took a southern track with sharp cutoff boundaries for major snowfall accumulation, leading to the cessation of snow around midnight. Although the storm has moved out of the area, refreezes and blowing snow remain possible throughout the day. Drivers are reminded to stay alert and drive cautiously.
"Drive slow, stay safe, and have a great morning."
