Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 16th district, shared several insights and activities on January 27, 2025, through his social media platform. His posts highlighted significant commemorations and visits to educational and historical institutions.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, LaHood reflected on the tragedy of the Holocaust. He stated, "On International Holocaust Remembrance Day we honor the over six million Jews who were killed during the Holocaust. Everyday we must work to fight antisemitism so that this horrific atrocity never happens again. #NeverForget" (January 27, 2025).

Earlier in the day, LaHood visited Highland Community College in Freeport where he met with President Christina Kuberski and toured the campus. He emphasized the importance of community colleges in workforce development by stating, "Started my day at Highland Community College in Freeport to meet with President Christina Kuberski and tour the campus. Community colleges are critical to creating a strong workforce, especially in fields like manufacturing and nursing." (January 27, 2025).

Later that day, LaHood visited the Galena History Museum to learn about its future plans for expansion. He expressed appreciation for those involved in preserving local history: "It was great to visit the Galena History Museum today and learn more about the historical society’s plans for a new museum. Illinois is rich with incredible history and I appreciate all the work Tessa Flak and Doug Hilgendorf do to help preserve it!" (January 27, 2025).
