The City of Peoria is preparing for an expected snowfall starting tomorrow morning, with accumulations projected between 3 to 7 inches. Public Works crews will be applying liquid pretreatments to overpasses and hills overnight in anticipation of the snow.
Operations will begin early tomorrow, focusing on plowing and treating primary roads and emergency snow routes. "Snowfighters will begin around-the-clock operations tomorrow morning," according to city officials.
Residential street treatment is scheduled once 2 inches of snow has fallen and ceased. Parking restrictions on snow routes are automatically enforced when forecasts predict 2 inches or more of snow, remaining in effect for 48 hours.
The forecast includes periods of heavy snow and wind gusts up to 25 mph, which may create hazardous travel conditions, particularly in the afternoon and evening. Residents are advised to stay home if possible, slow down, accelerate and brake gradually, use extreme caution, maintain extra distance from snowplows, and carry an emergency kit in their vehicles.
