Green infrastructure restoration work has begun across the city's green areas and native prairies. The project involves removing soil and plant material, applying soil amendments, and planting.

The work has commenced in the Combined Sewer Overflow Control Project Year 1 Area, which includes NE Perry Avenue from Caroline Street to Mary Street, NE Madison Avenue from Laveille Street to Mary Street, and NE Monroe Street from Laveille Street to Mary Street.

Weather permitting, efforts are set to start this week at the University Street and Main Street intersection. After this phase is completed, the schedule will continue with projects in several other locations: planter boxes in the Warehouse District along SW Washington Street from Maple Street to Liberty Street; SW Adams Street from Maple Street to Walnut Street; Oak Street from SW Jefferson Avenue to SW Washington Street; State Street from SW Adams Street to SW Water Street; bioswales along MacArthur Highway; the Washington Street Prairie near the Bob Michel Bridge; and the native prairie at the Public Works Facility located at 3505 N Dries Lane.

Additional work will be conducted throughout the year at Northmoor Road between N Allen Road and N University Street, in the E Nebraska Avenue Bioswale between N California Avenue and N New York Avenue, planter boxes along SW Adams Street from Pecan Streeet to Persimmon Streeet, and right-of-ways along S Western Avenue from W Wiswall Streeet to SW Adams Streeet.

Temporary parking restrictions and sidewalk closures will occur while work is being performed. Drivers and pedestrians should be aware of these limitations.

More information on current and upcoming green infrastructure projects can be found through city resources.
