FOIA Request to Tazewell County IL Clerk Election Division Regarding Voter Roll Changes on May 29, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Peoria Standard have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Tazewell County IL Clerk Election Division. Our request seeks detailed records of all changes made to the voter file database within the past 12 months. Specifically, we are requesting information on new registrants, removed registrants, and any voters who have had changes made to their registration details, such as address updates, party affiliation modifications, or contact information adjustments.
The requested data should include each relevant voter's full name, residential and mailing addresses (if different), voter identification number (if applicable), date of birth, phone number (if available), email address (if available), party affiliation (if applicable), and voting history. Additionally, we seek details regarding each voter's status—whether they were added as newly registered voters, removed from the voter roll, or had an address change.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public good, access to these records is essential for us. We believe that our role in disseminating information qualifies us for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
This request is supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
