Peoria Standard

City of Peoria Municipal Band Commission met June 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

In attendance: Molly Sloter, Chair; George Graves, Jr., Manager; David Vroman, Director; Denise Cooksey, Liaison; and Commissioners: Mary Barthel, Marcia Boyer, and Don Baker.

Called to Order: 8:05 am.

Minutes: Motion to approve the minutes as corrected of the May 8, 2025 meeting was made by Mary and seconded by Don.

Manager’s Report: George presented bills as follows:

David Vroman – cost of web site 20.00

Kidder music – new music (4 selections) 524.20

George Graves, Jr. – reimburse for band

 trailer supplies, straps, etc. 151.91

Total 696.11

Director’s Report:

 Had tryouts for 6 contestants for the John Kamarer Youth Soloist Competition.

 He is working on a roster for the mini bands that will play at St. Philomena and St. Vincent’s

 He has 2 applicants for assistant director. We will go through the interviewing process.

Old Business:

Molly reported on advertising for 2025:

 Mary and Molly stuffed 500 PSO programs

 There are 33 yard signs in place around the city

 She hasn’t actually seen the digital signs at Beachler’s or Dist. 150 sign on War Memorial

 Print ads were placed in Community Word, Morton Civic Chorus and Corn Stock Theatre

 Audio ads were turned in to Arts Partners and WCBU

 6 churches will put ads in their bulletins

 We will not be putting up banners this year due to the city using all the poles for arts programs

Food vendor update:

Mac Daddy Spudz will be at the park on June 22 (due to rainout on June 8)

We have 39 gifts cards donated. There should be enough to give 2 at each concert.

New Business:

1. Brochures are being distributed to retirement homes and individuals attending the concerts.

2. It was decided to send the minutes to commissioners as soon as they are submitted to Molly.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, July 10 ,2025 at 8 a.m. in Dingledine.

A motion to adjourn at 8:50 was made by Don and seconded by Mary.
