Illinois State Representative Travis Weaver discussed two major pieces of legislation during a recent interview with Cameron Maine on WMBD News. The conversation focused on the Chicago Transit bill and an $8 billion energy bill, both of which were debated during the latest Veto Session.

Weaver raised concerns about the proposed transit measure, stating: "We discussed the Chicago Transit bill and the problems involved with enacting a $2.5 billion fix for a $200 million problem without addressing necessary operational and structural reforms."

He also addressed issues within the energy sector in Illinois. Weaver said: "We also talked about the $8 billion energy bill that funds battery storage, and the pitfalls of not addressing key ways to produce increased energy in Illinois, which include lifting artificial caps on natural gas and not shutting down clean coal plants."

Weaver, a Republican, was elected to represent Illinois' 93rd House District in 2023, succeeding former state representative Norine Hammond.
