Peoria Heights CUSD board approves teacher contracts

The Peoria Heights Community Unified School District 325 Board of Trustees met Aug. 10 to approve teacher contracts.

August 10, 2016

A. Call to Order

President Gorman called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM

B. Roll Call

Present- Kelton, Casey, McCumber, Gorman, Ahart

Absent- Hulse, Mathisen

Others Present- Heath, Stoner, Carroll

C. Pledge of Allegiance

President Gorman asked everyone to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance

D. Approval of Minutes

Motion made by Casey, seconded by McCumber to approve the minutes from

Regular Meeting on July 13, 2016 as presented. Members voting Aye: Kelton, Casey,

McCumber, Gorman, Ahart. Nays: None. Motion carried.

E. Payment of Bills

Motion made by McCumber, seconded by Kelton to pay the bills as presented.

Members voting Aye: Kelton, Casey, McCumber, Gorman, Ahart. Nays: None. Motion

carried.

F. Treasurer’s Report

I. Teaching Contract

Motion made by Casey, seconded by Kelton to approve the contract of Andrew Arthur

to teach Physical Education at the Peoria Heights Grade School for the 2016-2017

school year. Members voting Aye:. Kelton, Casey, McCumber, Gorman, Ahart Nays:

None. Motion carried.

J. Teaching Contract

Motion made by Casey, seconded by McCumber to approve the contract of Terence

Martey to teach Math at the Peoria Heights High School for the 2016-2017 school year.

Members voting Aye:. Kelton, Casey, McCumber, Gorman, Ahart Nays: None. Motion

carried.

K. Paraprofessional Contract

Motion made by Casey, seconded by McCumber to offer a contract to Evan Moore to

serve as a special education aide at the Peoria Heights High School for the 2016-2017

school year. Members voting Aye:. Kelton, Casey, McCumber, Gorman, Ahart Nays:

None. Motion carried.

L. Tentative Budget

Motion made by Casey, seconded by Kelton that the Board of Eduaction adopt the

tentative budget for the 2016-2017 school year and to direct the Secretary of the Board

of Education to publish a legal notice of a Public Hearing. Members voting Aye:

carried.

M. Staff Addends

Motion made by Casey, seconded by McCumber to approve the addends as presented.

Nays: None. Motion carried.

N. Informational Item

None

O. School Board Policy Manual

Motion made by Casey, seconded by Kelton to adopt the policy updates to the school

board policy manual as presented by the Illinois School Board Association. Members

voting Aye: Kelton, Casey, McCumber, Gorman, Ahart. Nays: None. Motion carried.

P. Other Business:

Heath: Next Meeting is September 14, 2016, 9 new teachers between the high school

and grade school.

Stoner: Thanks to Jimmy Carter and his crew, and High School graduation for the 2016-

2017 year will be Saturday May 13, 2017 @ 2 PM.

Carroll: Condolences to the Bulmer Family on the passing of Shelia, attended training on

School Safety with Officer Vaughn, and Terry Mooney, and the snack pack program is

getting a $1500 donation from Peoria Heights Chamber of Commerce to help continue

the program.
